How to choose a listener on Yaara (and what to say first)

Language, rating, rate per minute and the short bio tell you most of what you need. Then a simple opening line takes care of the rest.

Opening the app and seeing a list of listeners can feel like a lot. Here is how to pick well in under a minute.

Start with language

Use the language filter first. Talking in the language you think in makes everything easier. Hindi, English, Punjabi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and more are available.

Read the bio, not just the rating

Ratings tell you people were happy. The bio tells you why. Look for the topics a listener mentions: work stress, relationships, exam pressure, family. Pick someone whose words sound like your situation.

Check the rate

Every listener shows a rate in coins per minute before you call. The meter is on screen during the call and it ends by itself when your coins run out, so you can never overspend. The first three minutes on Yaara are free.

Voice or video?

Voice is a good first step. Video is there when you want to feel more present. Both are private and never recorded.

What to say first

"Hi, I just need to talk for a few minutes about work."
"I am not sure what I want to say. Can you just listen for a bit?"
"Today was a bad day. Can I tell you about it?"

Listeners are used to all of these. There is no wrong opening line.

After the call

Rate the conversation. It helps other people choose, and it helps good listeners get seen. If someone made you uncomfortable, use Report or Block right there on the screen. Our team reviews every report.
